ISLAMABAD: On Wednesday, the Pakistan basketball team arrived in the Maldives to take part in the five-nation international basketball competition that will begin on June 15 in Male.

The top four teams from each league stage will advance to the championship semifinals, when Pakistan, the host Maldives, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Nepal will compete for the championship trophy.

Before leaving for the Maldives, the Pakistani squad met with Shoaib Khoso, the director general of the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB). He was briefed on the national team’s preparations for the five-nation Championship at this meeting by Brig. (R) Muhammad Iftikhar Mansoor, President of the Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF).

The talented Pakistan Basketball Team has high expectations for its performance in the five-nation basketball competition, according to DG PSB Shoaib Khoso. He said that the Pakistan Sports Board will assist active sports federations to the fullest extent possible.

He said that young athletes will get the chance to showcase their athletic ability while representing their nation, as the Pakistan Sports Board is actively promoting sports throughout the nation.
